SBS at the Photo Collective Manila

The Shutterbugs Society joined Henry's Professional's event - the Photo Collective Manila, held on July 30, 2016 at the La Mesa Eco Park. The team includes SBS Director Gerard Salimpade, President Jarren Virata, Business Manager Marve Salino, and Bonafide Member Eric Salimao.

The SBS PCM (Photo Collective Manila) Team arrived by 9:00am at the venue and presented the online registration ticket by the receiving booth. Booth set-ups from Fujifilm, Hery's Professional, Canon, Nikon, and Tamron could be found around the area.

Great lectures were given for free for all attendees at the Eco Academy Hall and nearby fields. First was the Wild Bird Photography, by Sir Rey Sta. Ana. He discussed about the nature of their field of photography, their visions and campaign to preserve especially the endangered species of birds through photography. He discussed a lot of inspiring stories and of course, the technical stuff on composition, ethics, common problems, settings with regards to the field, and many other important stuff.

Sir Rey's seminar was followed by Sir Rommel Bundalian's Outdoor Photography, who discussed about the different categories of outdoor photography, how to stand out from the cliché, and how to stand out in the field. He also discussed his adventurous travels and the things to remember when shooting.

A group shot was done for all attendees and organizers by the field after Sir Rommel's lecture. We're still waiting for the organiser's upload though...

After an hour of lunch break, the seminar by Sir Edwin Martinez on Visual Design for Outdoor Photography. Discussing about the visual elements, iconic, layers, interest elements, and many others.

Concurrent with Sir Edwin's lecture, is Sir Ricky Ladia's workshop on Portrait photography. We could say that it was an enjoyable workshop due to his humour and hands-on photo session, accompanied by the lovely model - L.U. Sir Ricky discussed about the different elements when shooting a portrait, and details using ambient light, reflected light with the use of a reflector, as well as using soft boxes. Questions with regard to each one's shot during the session were nicely entertained by the maestro.

After Sir Ricky's workshop was Sir Winston Baltasar's workshop on Sports and Action Photography. He discussed his experiences in the field, the essence of Sports Photography, things to always take note when shooting, the necessary settings, and many other information. We also got to get a hands-on shoot for Action Photography with the group Go Girls Philippines. Rock on!

Sir Winston guided the shooters personally, assisting them with their shots and answering question about the topic. He also assessed the participants' shots which greatly helps photographers improve their skills.

The day was truly worth it, and we went home full with new knowledge and great experiences with other photographers and the masters of the art.

We can't wait for another exciting photography event!
